Designed in conjunction with Paxman, these mouthpieces provide the classic French horn sound with the consistency and quality of Denis Wick.
2 - The DW/Paxman range of mouthpieces has been developed with LSO principal horn Tim Jones, and uses the ideas underlying the Denis Wick Heritage range. This principle is based on a late 19th century design, where the cup wall is very thin near the mouthpiece rim, combined with the new idea to have substantially more mass lower down the cup.
The results are amazing. The mouthpieces have an immediate, easy response, particularly in the high register, a smooth legato and a sound rich in overtones over the whole range. The 2, with a cup diameter of 18.50mm, is the largest of the range. Although this diameter would have previously been thought very large, mouthpieces of this size are now commonly used by orchestral horn players, and give a very dynamic and exciting sound in large symphonic works. This mouthpiece will help create an incredibly rich and dark sound. A very large mouthpiece for strong players.

This size is very popular with orchestral horn players, and gives a rich sound which projects well. Can be used by both high and low players.

5.5 - This mouthpiece was designed with Tim Jones, principal horn of the London Symphony Orchestra, and is the equivalent size to the popular Paxman 4B mouthpiece. The Paxman/Denis Wick range of horn mouthpieces was developed with a view to producing a range of horn mouthpieces based on the principles underlying Wick’s ‘Heritage’ range. This principle is based on a late 19th century design, where the cup wall is very thin near the mouthpiece rim, combined with substantially more mass lower down the cup. The thin cup walls help convey sensations from the horn to the lips giving incredibly good contact between the player and the instrument. High playing and quiet entries become more secure. The mass of the mouthpiece is concentrated at the bottom of the cup. This helps the projection and gives a powerful low register.
The rim is gently rounded giving plenty of endurance, but with plenty of ‘grip’ for security in the high register. The deep cup helps create a warmly romantic sound, ideal for orchestral playing.

All functional parts are in good condition and operate as intended, such as tips, rails, tables, cups, and rims.
Both "Demo" and "Used" items are cleaned as needed and Mouthpieces have been cleaned, sanitized, and sealed in a poly wrapper.
